Our Club

The Rockingham Swimming Club is a year-round competitive swimming club, established in 1946, with a clear vision to provide every swimmer with the opportunity to become the best version of themselves.

We believe all people should be able to participate in sport in a welcoming and inclusive way, regardless of age, ability, socio-economic status, cultural background, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.

At Rockingham Swimming Club, we're not just about building strong swimmers, we're committed to nurturing good humans. Whether you are looking to swim competitively through our performance pathway, train through our side step Stingrays pathway, or simply build on your technique and stamina, our club can cater for you.

Our competitive pathway delivers comprehensive training programs and opportunities for those looking to excel in the sport, while our non-competitive sidestep program offers a fun and supportive environment for those who swim for fitness and enjoyment.

Join us on an incredible journey of personal growth, friendship, and achievement as we make waves both in and out of the pool.

Together, we are not just building good swimmers, but building exceptional humans too.

Para-Swimming

Para-Swimming has a proud and established legacy, deeply woven into Australia’s sporting culture.

With over 4,000 classified swimmers, Swimming Australia collaborates with over 400 clubs and key organisations like Paralympics Australia to create opportunities for swimmers with various impairments. Our performance pathway supports swimmers from grassroots learning right through to elite, Paralympic-level performance. Swimming remains the top Paralympic sport for adults over 18 in Australia.

At Rockingham Swimming Club, we provide support and opportunities for swimmers of all abilities to participate and thrive. We welcome swimmers, including those looking to swim in multi-class classifications, who have a basic foundation in swimming (Dept Education, Grade 7).

Our facilities at The Aqua Jetty are designed for accessibility, featuring a hydraulic hoist for safe entry into the hydrotherapy, 25m, and 50m pools, along with a ramp into the 50m outdoor pool. Two universally accessible change rooms are also available on both floors.

Whether you’re here for fitness, rehabilitation, or competitive goals, Rockingham Swimming Club is dedicated to offering a welcoming, supportive environment where every swimmer can reach their full potential.

We welcome anyone interested in joining our inclusive swimming community to email secretary@rockinghamstingrays.com.au. Whether you're new to swimming or looking to take your skills to the next level, our team is here to support you every step of the way! We’d love to discuss your unique needs and goals, so we can tailor a pathway that’s just right for you. Whether it’s fitness, or competition, our coaches and club are dedicated to helping you thrive in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Training Facilities

Our club trains at the Aqua Jetty in Warnbro, one of WA’s premier aquatic and health facilities, south of the river.

Our beginner junior squads (Green and Bronze) train in the 25m indoor swimming pool (heated to 27.5°C), which provides them with an ideal set-up to practice short course skills and general stroke development.

Our intermediate (Silver) and advanced (Gold) junior squads, as well as our senior State Performance, Nationals and Stingrays squads, train in the 50m outdoor swimming pool (heated to 26.5°C).

This pool was refurbished in 2020, with the installation of a new vinyl pool liner, new tiles to the pool head ends and wet deck, and a swim wall which divides the 50m pool into two 25m pools.

Aqua Jetty has two universally accessible change rooms located on both floors.

Our History

The Beginning of Our Journey

The Rockingham Swimming Club was founded in 1946 under the name Rockingham Districts Amateur Swimming & Life Saving Club. Training was originally conducted in the ocean at Palm Beach until 1951-52, when the club moved to the Rockingham foreshore.

Moving to the Pool

In 1974 the club moved to the newly built Rockingham Aquatic Centre to conduct summer training in the outdoor 50m pool.

Aqua Jetty

After completion of Aqua Jetty - Warnbro in 2003, the Rockingham Swimming Club relocated to the new modern facility, and has recently celebrated 20 years at the facility, alongside City of Rockingham and Aqua Jetty members, staff and stakeholders.
